My seventh wedding of 2017 was a miracle of connections. Reconnecting with me after a decade through an insta search for #weddingshoes (seriously!), I was so impressed you found me! You had planned everything as you wanted it for your intimate and personal Brooklyn wedding to A, and I was so honored to come on board in the final weeks (literally!) to help bring it all together. Passing the day-of duties on to my amazing assistant coordinator, Katie, we got you through a slightly rainy outdoor wedding without missing a beat. My every warm wish goes to you and your family for a memorable 2018!
As I look forward to my 2018 couples and weddings, I'm FINALLY getting around to featuring all of the gorgeousness and awesomeness of my 2017 couples!
The 2017 wedding season began early for me with this stunner of a wedding! With glorious Gowanus, Brooklyn as their backdrop, this Astoria, Queens couple gathered 120 of their nearest and dearest to celebrate their union at what has easily become one of my favorite wedding venues, The Green Building, which had a former industrial life as home to the Brass Foundry. The bride had a hand in every design detail - from consulting with her florist (Petals & Roots) on the tablescapes, to selecting chargers, flatware, lighting, signage, and welcome table decor - at every turn the choices felt uniquely like the bride and groom.
April showers came early for this late March wedding, moving the first look and all formal photos indoors while I oversaw final venue preparations (including place carding each seat at the table with my handwritten calligraphy). The ceremony, officiated by a mutual friend, was deeply heartfelt, from the couple's written vows, to the groom selecting a surprise song for his soon-to-be wife to process down the aisle to (inside scoop: she recognized it immediately and knew its meaning).
After vows, we flipped the room effortlessly, converting it from formal ceremony seating to reception space, all while guests noshed on delicious food and drink from Brooklyn's own Pies 'n' Thighs (who also catered the buffet dinner). Toasts, dances, and cake cutting followed, until the couple opened the dance floor for a late-night party, while friends scooped up Coolhaus Ice Cream and Pies 'n' Thighs signature pies and donuts. As the clock struck midnight, all departed to the afterparty, and we turned off the lights on this gorgeous venue. But for the bride and groom, their journey was just getting started!

My sixth wedding of 2017 took me back to the neighborhood of Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, my first home in NYC before I decamped to Astoria permanently. Shiralee, you were just an absolute dream client to work with! I had such a fun time getting to know you and help bring your day together! You chose one of my very favorite venues in all the city, and from that began a beautiful partnership with the amazing team at Frankie’s 457! Your attention to design and detail really made for a stunning wedding. House Landwin FTW! My every warm wish goes to you both for a memorable 2018!

You're first in the lineup of my 2017 couple thank-you notes! I'm honored to have been a part of making your big day a success. You are a beautiful couple, and assembled a crackpot team of vendors I've come to turn to again and again since your wedding day. Thank you for choosing a gorgeous venue in The Green Building, which has allowed me to grow and nurture a relationship with their team and space that I'll forever be indebted to you for. I SO enjoyed bringing together your Irish and Puerto Rican families for a heartfelt ceremony and raucous good party! My every warm wish goes to you for a memorable 2018!

2017 was QUITE the year for my baby business!
From just an inkling of an idea in the summer of 2016, Stephanie Gatton Events was born. 18 weddings later – and with another 8 already on the calendar for 2018, I’m loving what I do and who I work with. My clients invariably become my FRIENDS, a relationship born out of the trust and honesty they give me. They’ve taken me down to Philly, up to the Hudson Valley, all over this city that I love, and even on a plane back to San Francisco! Along the way, I’ve gotten to know some kick-ass vendors and venues, my partners in making your day extra-special.
Over the next few days, I’ll be thanking each and every one of those couples, as I look forward to making new memories in 2018 and beyond. LET'S DO THIS!
Long time no see! It's been a BUSY end of summer/beginning of fall for me, as I took on a record number of wedding clients (way to go, baby business!), while also completing a move from our apartment into our new home in August, with MUCH work to be done there as well!
I've been remiss in my welcome announcements for all of my lovely couples, but I'm happy to return to this series to say welcome to REBECCA & ANDREW!
These two cuties are getting married at one of my favorite venues - The Green Building, which recommended my services to them (thanks, Susan!). Once Rebecca and I met last month, it was clear it was a match made in musical heaven! She's a talented jazz singer, he's a jazz double-bassist, and so it was an effortless fit for us all. I'm expecting to have a delightful time with these two!
They'll be getting hitched THIS WEEKEND in a fun and festive DIY wedding surrounded by 100 of their very favorite people, and I am honored to join their team as their month-of coordinator for this weekend's Brooklyn wedding. Let's do this!
Apologies for the radio silence as of late - the hubs and I are in the midst of a pretty epic move. We are fortunate enough to be selling our condo in Astoria and purchasing a little HOUSE ten minutes away on the other side of the neighborhood. I'm beyond excited at the prospect of setting up shop there, and envision writing blog entries from the urban privacy of the deck in our backyard very soon! But this week has been a frenzy of packing!
Without further ado, and in the midst of all of this, I'm thrilled to welcome my newest couple to the Stephanie Gatton Events family - STARSHA & ANDREI!
FUN FACT! Starsha and I met in 2005 - in our collective former lives in theatrical stage management! Fast forward to 2017, when Starsha is marrying her lovely man (and papa to their adorable daughter, Zora), back in Brooklyn (they now call Chicago home).
Starsha found me - after all these years - crazily enough searching Instagram for #weddingshoes, and saw a recent post of mine. It was meant to be! As she wrote, "I have been very skeptical of my own ability to shut off the producing mode at my wedding. Then I saw you [on Instagram] and got VERY excited. I need a day-of coordinator and I already trust you implicitly because you taught me everything I know!!!"
That was just two weeks ago, folks. After planning the entire shindig, Starsha and Andrei will be getting hitched one week from tomorrow, on August 5, and I couldn't be more excited to have the privilege of being entrusted to carry their plans through to the finish line! I'm honored to join their team as the coordinator for their DIY, laid-back wedding at the Brooklyn Society for Ethical Culture. Let's do this!
Happy Spring! Just a quick post to welcome my newest clients to the fold - SHIRALEE AND GEOFF!
I’m proud to say that this lovely couple was sent my way by my newest collaborators, the amazing events team at Frankie’s Spuntino, where I’m now happy to coordinate weddings in their beautiful backyard garden and stable - seriously, this is easily my favorite location for intimate, absolutely delicious, and surprisingly affordable wedding bliss within the five boroughs.
With backgrounds embedded in the arts and fashion, Shiralee and Geoff are set to welcome 80 of their closest friends and family to an intimate - and uniquely “them” - evening of celebration.
Plus they have PUPPIES. So, honestly, they had me right there!
I'm honored to join the team as their coordinator for their July 2017 wedding at the original Frankie’s location in my first New York neighborhood of Carroll Gardens. Let's do this!
